Serendipity Raid Loot Policy 6/28/09

This loot policy will be used during all Serendipity raids and will be implemented by all Serendipity raid leaders. All Serendipity raids will be set to master looter (raid leader) and the loot level will be rare (blue) items.

All raiders who participate in a raid are equally eligible to receive loot. Alts are entitled to receive loot as much as mains. A raid is a team effort and all players in the raid are entitled to benefit. Each raid is considered a separate raid event. It does not matter if the raid is a continuation of a previous raid ie. multiple Naxx or Ulduar runs). All raiders are equally eligible for loot that drops when the raid starts. The loot raiders received from previous raids does not matter.

The raid leader will determine the role that is most appropriate for each item drop. A role will be limited to:
  • tank - plate with +defense or +stam,etc.
  • melee/range dps - +attack, +agility, etc.
  • caster dps - bonus to spell power and hit
  • healer - bonus to spell power and MP5
  • caster/healer - bonus to spell power, crit/haste, spirit

WOTLK and dual spec have now come out. The Serendipity loot rules have been updated to reflect this. We are still trying to make the loot rules fair to everyone. The rules will continue to be updated in the future as needed.

Loot Rules

Each raider will have 3 main spec rolls on regular gear, 1 separate roll for tier gear, and an unlimited number of rolls for off spec gear. Raiders who have received fewer main spec items will receive priority over raiders who have already gotten main spec items. The same is true for off spec items.

The raid leader will decide who can roll on an item based upon the role each person is playing in the raid. This role will be considered the players main spec for that raid. A player will continue to roll for his main spec even if the raid leader asks the player to change specs (ie. tank or healer to dps) for a specific fight.

Users of a specific armor type get priority on an item when it is the same armor type. Cloth wearers get priority on cloth armor, leather wearers on leather armor, and mail wearers on mail armor. Other armor type wearers will get to roll for their main set if users of a specific armor type do not want to use a main set roll.

Casters have priority on hit gear and healers have priority on MP5 gear. Healers can use a main spec roll on hit gear if no casters want to use a main spec roll. Casters can use a main spec roll on MP5 gear if no healers want to use a main spec roll.

Druids have priority on staffs with armor bonus, melee dps on melee weapons, and hunters on range weapons. Other dps can use a main spec roll on an item if the primary classes don't want to use a main spec roll.

Class specific items such as totems or relics will be opened to the specified class. Priority will be given to the people who's role in the raid matches the item. The item will not count as a main spec or off spec roll.

Items will be opened up for an off spec roll if no one wants to use a main spec roll. Anyone who can use the item for an off spec will be eligible to roll. People should not roll on off spec gear for DE purposes.

Items will be disenchanted if they can't be used for an off spec set of gear. Anyone who has not received an item will be eligible to roll on the disenchanted items at the end of the raid. Extra items will be placed in the guild bank when everyone in the raid has received an item. Items will be vendored by the raid leader and the gold will be put in the guild bank if no enchanter is available.

The raider with the highest roll wins the item. If there is a tie for the highest roll, the raiders who tied will roll again until the tie is broken. If 2 items of the same type drop (ie. tier gear), the 2 highest rolls will win the item.

If a raid leader asks a player to change toons for specific fights, the new toon gets new rolls while that toon is in the raid. This will happen less often now that dual spec is available but it will still happen.

One or Two Boss Raids

When the raid only has 1 or 2 bosses, each person will be restricted to 1 item. For these raids, tier gear will be rolled on first.

BOE Loot Rules

Raiders can use a main spec roll for a BOE item. If no one in the raid can use the item, the item will be put in the Serendipity guild bank if everyone in the raid is from Serendipity. If there are pugs in the raid, everyone in the raid who has not won something can roll for the item.

Patterns/Recipes

Any raider who currently has the skill to use a pattern/recipe that drops will be allowed to roll on that item if they do not have it. In the rare cases where multiple patterns/recipes drop during a raid, the raiders who have not gotten a pattern/recipe during the raid will receive priority over raiders who have already gotten one. Raiders will be allowed to roll on patterns/recipes even if they have already received previous loot. Patterns/recipes that raiders receive are meant to be used by the raider to enhance the guild and not sold on the AH. A BOE pattern/recipe will be placed in the guild bank if no raider has the skill to use it or all the raiders who can use it already have it. A raider receiving a pattern/recipe does not change his priority for receiving normal or tier drops.

Special Items

Some special drops from bosses will be treated differently than regular loot. These include the following:

OS 22 Slot Bag
OS Badge bag

Trash Drops

Raiders get to keep any uncommon (green) item drops when it is their turn to loot.

Raid Leader Role

The raid leader is responsible for giving out loot. He may consult with other people during this process. In case of any questions or issues, the raid leader has the final decision on who gets the gear.
