Serendipity Raiding Guidelines 11/11/2008

To help make Serendipity raids run smoother, the officers have discussed some guidelines we would like to see guild members follow when raiding. We have organized these into a list of Do's and Don'ts.

Addons

1. Ventrilo - this is not a mod, but a separate program which allows us to use voice communications. You don't need to buy a mic to talk to us, but you do need this to hear us talk to you.

2. Omen - a great meter which measures threat generated because so many fights require everyone in the group to control it

3. DeadlyBossMods - these mods are designed with timers/counters and announcements to make a boss fight easier

Don'ts:

1. Go AFK if you can help it. If you have to, give the raid leader a warning. If you need to go AFK for longer than 5 minutes, find a replacement. It isn't fair to keep all the raider members waiting. Raid leaders will periodically give the entire raid a 3-5 minute break.

2. Pull when you are not the designated puller. This catches everyone off guard and can cause wipes.

3. Try and lead the group if you are not the raid leader. Multiple people giving directions can mess up a run pretty quickly. Raid leaders are trained to lead groups. Please let them do their job.

Do's:

1. Be online and ready to go 15-30 minutes before the raid start time. Raid invites will be sent out 15 minutes prior to the raid start time. The raid leader can replace your spot in the raid if your are not online when invites go out. If you have notified the raid leader in advance that you will be slightly late he will save your spot.

2. Make sure your armor is completely repaired before you head into the instance. Make sure your bags are cleared out and you have everything you need (ie. mana pots, healing pots, bandages, reagents, etc.). It is worth the extra few minutes wait to get this done before everyone is in the instance.

3. Know your role in the raid. If you are not sure what your supposed to be doing, whisper or ask the raid leader.

4. Research the boss fights before the raid. This makes the raid leader's job much easier.

5. Follow the raid leader's directions. When the leader asks you to do something or not to do something, please follow that request. The group's strategy depends on everyone doing their job.

6. Wait until everyone is ready. The leader will usually issue a ready check, a count down, or a go command when the fight starts.

7. Give the mana users time to replenish their mana. It can take time to regen mana so please be patient.

8. Know what the different raid symbols mean.

9. If you notice something that the raid leader did not (ie. he marked three mobs and you see four,) definitely mention it. If you have a suggestion that you feel might work well, mention it also. There is always room for improvement! If the leader does not elect to take that advice however, understand that is not personal. There could be factors involved that they do not have time to explain. If you are still wondering, whisper the raid leader after the fight or the raid is done. Raid leaders will explain their thought process once there is time to do so.

10. Give the MT time to establish aggro!

11. If crowd control breaks, give the CC person time to get the mob back under control.

12. If you want to sign up for raids, you must have an account on the website.

13. Last and certainly not least, HAVE FUN!!!

If you have any questions, please contact one of the officers or raid leaders.
